Come “Celebrate the Greatness of America” during the Arizona H2OMG! Festival at Lake Pleasant, February 23-26, 2017
It is our great pleasure to announce a new and exciting addition to the winter lineup of Phoenix area major public events. It's called the “Arizona H2OMG! Festival at Lake Pleasant,” and it features the Arizona Copper Cup hydroplane race championships. The inaugural event occurs from February 23-27, 2017, and it is planned to be repeated annually.
The driving theme for the event is “Celebrating the Greatness of America – Let Freedom Roar!” With supercharged Grand Prix class hydroplanes racing at over 150 miles per hour on Lake Pleasant, spectators will surely experience the thundering roar of powerful engines as international race teams from the U.S. and Canada compete for top honors and the Copper Cup Championship trophy.
The H2OMG! Freedom Stage at the festival show center will feature patriotic shows, musical entertainment and celebrations throughout the weekend. Three evening concerts and mid-day music breaks will entertain guests after and in-between boat races. Paradise Amusements is providing a full on-site carnival. The H2OMG! Technology Exposition Hall and Career Fair will inspire those interested in science, technology, engineering and math, plus open up pathways to careers in those fields.
Food, beverage, retail and hospitality opportunities abound throughout the four major festival areas. The “Show Zone” and adjacent “Vista Point Zone” are at the center of the action, with unlimited carnival rides and race team pit access, plus non-stop entertainment, a food court and shopping along H2OMG! Main Street. The H2OMG! Transit System will move spectators and guests throughout the festival
The Schedule
A grand opening ceremony and race team pep rally kicks off the event on Thursday, February 23rd, followed by a “Rockin’ America” music show and dance party. Multiple hydroplane and power boat racing events will dominate the daily schedule on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the Grand Prix championship race concluding the festival on Sunday afternoon. A “Pirate Beach Party” celebration is planned for Friday night, with costume contests and great dance music for all ages. Saturday is “Hometown Heroes and Champions Day,” which will feature USO-style entertainment that honors all those have served in uniform, including the armed forces, fire fighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical technicians and other first responders. The “America the Great Country Concert” that night will fill your heart with patriotism, love of country and gratitude for those who defend our freedom.
