Dee Daniels, Executive Producer at Voice America, leads this 4 part series on how to start your own successful podcast. There will be 4 sessions held at Peoria Public Library. Each session will walk through a step in starting a successful podcast. Come check out the new Amplify Podcast studio that just launched at the Peoria Public Library and see all of the free equipment ready for the public to use to create their own podcast. Once you’ve finished this workshop, you’ll feel confident to start your own in the Amplify Podcast space available to you!
Research shows that from 2019 to 2024, the number of podcast listeners is set to increase by 83.7%, at an average annual growth rate of 15.2%. The popularity of podcasts has now reached 383.7 million global users tuning in to hear their favorite content deep dives, entertaining stories, and magnetic personalities. Podcasts can even be big business with Joe Rogan selling his podcast archives for over $100 million to Spotify. And, the great thing about podcasts is that anyone can launch the next smash hit with the resources available in our local community.
This four-part series has been created to spotlight those local resources and provide an approachable exploration of podcasting. It is led by Dee Daniels, an executive producer of shows for digital broadcast networks and local entrepreneur. She will walk attendees through key decisions like topic and format as well as break down the components of a solid production and launch plan. By the end of the series, attendees will have all of the knowledge necessary to launch their own podcast!
The series is a collaboration between the Peoria Public Library and the Peoria Forward program, a high-impact partnership between the City of Peoria and the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute at Arizona State University.
Learning outcomes: By the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to successfully launch a podcast including understanding how to:
- select a topic,
- choose a format,
- identify and engage an audience,
- create a launch plan,
- secure and setup production equipment basics,
- create a marketing plan, and understand how to monetize a podcast.
