Celebrate the worth of all animals by attending our Annual Blessing of the Animals Event on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 9 am. This brief and beautiful service that is based on the 7th century prayer by Saint Modestus, Patriarch of Jerusalem, will be held in our courtyard and is open to friends, family and community members who wish to honor a beloved pet. Because space is limited, we are asking for advance notice and registration. By calling the church during office hours with the total number of people and animals in your party, we can ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all.
Prior to the event and throughout the month of October, donations for rescue organizations and shelters will be accepted. Much needed items include canned cat food, dry dog food, beds, toys, paper towels, and gift cards. A drop box will be located in our observation area for all donations. Raffle tickets, sponsored by Peoria’s Pet Market and Hearts Full of Love Grooming, will be sold to win either a dog or kitty basket full of prizes. The lucky winners will be announced on the day of the Blessing (presence at the event is not required). We will also be selling homemade dog biscuits with proceeds going to benefit our beloved church. The following will be observed on the day of the Blessing: • All dogs must be on a leash • Small pets must be in a carrier or crate.
Thank you for supporting this event and for stewarding God’s creatures. We can’t wait to see you there!
